Kevin Wu

Kevin Wu is a native of Hong Kong. At the age of twelve he moved to Las Vegas and began winning awards in numerous competitions, including first prize at the Silver State Competition, first prize at the International Pianoteams Competition, second prize at the Bolognini Competition and second prize at the Community College of Southern Nevada Piano Concerto Competition. He has participated in the Chautauqua Music Festival multiple times and has performed in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Canada and throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, and live on Classical WSMR 89.1 radio station.

Wu is an experienced instrumental and vocal collaborator having served as accompanist for schools in Los Angeles, CA; Pittsford, New York; and Tampa, FL. He has taught at the South Pasadena Music Center and Conservatory in Los Angeles and Carnegie Mellon University’s Music Preparatory School in Pittsburgh.

Wu earned a B.F.A. with honors in piano performance and a certificate in piano pedagogy from Carnegie Mellon University.  He also holds an M.M. in piano performance from the University of Southern California and an M.M. in chamber music (piano) from the University of South Florida, where he was a graduate assistant teaching Piano Ensemble and Keyboard Skills, and serving as pianist of the President's Trio. His teachers have included Sergey Schepkin, Norman Krieger, Svetozar Ivanov, and Rebecca Penneys.
