In 2015, the Straz Center launched a series of community art projects engaging people in the creative process and highlighting the extraordinary talents of local and international visual artists. As a result of the overwhelming response, we created Art on the Walk, an ongoing community art project permanently exhibited on the Riverwalk.

Current exhibit — Power to the People: The Bill of Rights

May 19 – Sept. 3

A civic lesson within an art exhibit, Power to the People: The Bill of Rights is a visual exhibition featuring ten pieces by Tampa Bay area veterans who were each assigned one article of the Bill of Rights to inspire an original work of art. The exhibition will showcase deeply personal artistic meditations on the first ten amendments to the Constitution by women and men who serve in the armed forces to protect these rights.

Produced in conjunction with James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital and the National Endowment for the Arts’ Creative Forces initiative, Power to the People: The Bill of Rights is presented as part of Straz Salutes, a program offering opportunities for veterans and their families to connect with the arts.

This is a FREE event. The exhibit will be presented along the Straz Center’s portion of the Riverwalk May 19 – Sept. 3.

Join us for the opening of the exhibit on Sat., May 19, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
